Causes of Blue Leaf Colouring

The first thing to do is not to panic! Blue leaves can occur sometimes and they can also resolve themselves in time. Blue leaves do not necessarily mean the plant is going bad or not growing properly. The most common reasons for blue leaves include:

  • High copper content in the soil such as a pipe close by
  • The plant may be too cold or in the shade too much, try moving the plant to a new location if possible
  • Blue Mold - The symptom of this is actually yellowing of the leaves and stem and it is caused by insects.
  • Some plants naturally tend to have blueish leaves when they are young. If it is a new plant, allow it to grow out a bit first and see if it changes.
